“Federal government is no longer one of limited and enumerated powers.” — SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas, dissent in Ashcroft v. Raich (medical marijuana decision), June 6 2005

Your city can now seize your property for any reason it damn well pleases, as long as they can say it’s good for someone, somewhere. If you don’t pay “enough” in property taxes, expect the government to try and give your land to someone who will.

So the public sector gets ridiculously broad power to put together giveaways for large corporations in hopes of spurring economic development at the expense of citizens’ rights to property. I believe the word for this is “fascism.”
